I have a severe case of the blahs this morning. It’s a sweeping listlessness that makes my mind feel cloudy, like my brain is about to leak out of my ears. Presently I’m nursing a mug of green tea and stealing some cuddle time with my daughter. My plans for the afternoon will include relaxing by:
1) smothering my face with a gooey raw honey mask
2) cracking open a novel
3) much writing in my journal
Additionally here were our weekend expenses:
Friday
-$46 on gas
Saturday
-$158.00 on groceries for a week and a half, with a few indulges peppered in (including a couple of freshly baked multi-grain sticky buns from the co-op that are fantastic. There’s a reason those sweet fluffy dough-balls are an oft used synonym for ambrosia around these parts.)
Sunday
-No spend day (woo-hoo!), spent the whole day at home
Total affliction: $204
Not great but not terrible, all things considered, although I will eyeball our grocery cost more closely next week. So that was my spending schtick.
How spendy was your weekend—did you manage to stay within budget?
=^..^=
The blahs are the worst. Do tell about this raw honey mask thing. Just raw honey?
PS: I had a $15 weekend. Crazy but true.
Gobs of raw honey, that’s it! Congratulations on the $15 weekend. That is simply awesome. The blahs, I suspect, are from (slowly but surely) being sick.
I had an unusual weekend too in terms of spending. My wife and I went out with friends to the movies and dinner. It cost $12 (for 2, discounted prepaid) and $40 for dinner. Sunday, we joined some friends to celebrate one of our friends getting married. Brunch was $31 plus $25 for the married couple. $108 for me represents nearly half of my monthly spending on entertainment. It is good I normally don’t do this every weekend.
Aren’t Mondays wonderful?
I woke up an hour late this morning, so I feel like I am behind all day. We did pretty good this weekend. We spent around $50 at Costco for some groceries on Saturday and maybe $10 at the grocery store on some fruit.
Jennifer: a link to my favorite cold/flu tonic. I change it a bit by using the ingredients to make a tea. Works every time

I had a very expensive weekend. We finally bought our new couch and some other items my lovely wife picked out. It set me back a lot of money. Not a good weekend for my budget.
I blew my whole monthly grocery budget this weekend but there were beautiful fresh lake fish and a monthly stock of meat so not too bad overall.
This was the first week in 6 where I had extra cash left (even a little) in my budget envelopes. whoop whoop!
For me: $40 at Home Depot on Saturday (paint for touching up the walls, getting reimbursed from landlord, and renting a ladder to mount my satellite dish) and $42 for gas on Sunday. Plus $1 for a can of gravy for the shepherd’s pie I made.
I feel like December-March is one big case of the blahs! I had a very expensive weekend this weekend. We bought a new couch for $400 and then I gave in and spent another $100 on some new clothes this weekend….but at least I avoided spending money on eating out
Seems like everyone has got the blahs these days. must be the winter weather.-just had 2 blizzards.
so, i had the urge to do some shopping today. i went to my fave consignment shop and lookie here. ll bean winter boots just like new for $5. i also combed the $2 rack to see what i could find. ann taylor top. oooh that’s nice. bcbg sweater. gap sweater. all like new. i ended up spending $23 dollars. well worth it. then i took myself out to lunch. it only cost me $6.50 for a spinach pie dinner-spinach pie, roasted potatoes and roasted veg.- cause i buy fifty dollars in gift certs so they give u ten for free! wooo hooooo.
that was my frugal day. other than that i didn’t do anything else this weekend.
A blah day is just to remind you how good it is the rest of the time:-)!!
This morning was pretty good for me. I hit the gym and the went to work and made some solid progress. I hope to keep the train moving tomorrow.
Spending wise, nothing out of the ordinary.
We spent quite a bit as we’re getting ready for the arrival of our son. What book are you reading?
Ended up spending more than planned at Target today, but scored a huge haul of my little ponies for $1.85 a piece that I’ll donate to toys for tots, so it was worth it.
We spent quite a bit on the weekend with our BBQ that we hosted, but it was a one off so i’m not too concerned with the extra expenditure.
That’s really not that bad considering most of what you bought was necessities. I don’t even know how much we spent this weekend…hmmm…including groceries and gas it would likely be around $200 as well.
I was pretty bad. Took my kid to the driving range and then I took her for some sushi, but it was relatively cheap. We also had one other eat out meal. This is not like me at all. These days its all about cooking at home, so I feel guilty when we eat out!!!
Our weekend was very spendy because we ended up vacationing an extra day longer. Oh well! Back on the wagon =)
When I lived in Michigan the blahs were horrible during February. I couldn’t shake the ennui this month. Now that I’ve moved to a place that’s more sunny NE Texas, I don’t have that problem as much.
